Bachelor's program requirements

The following is required to apply for first-year admission to ¼ø»Æʦapp:

• Cumulative, unweighted grade point average of 2.5 or above (on a 4.0 unweighted scale) from an accredited high school
• Academic transcript. Ask your high school to send your academic transcripts to ¼ø»Æʦapp
• (Optional) Send your test scores. ¼ø»Æʦapp has a test-optional* admissions process, but if you would like to submit scores, please make sure they're submitted either on high school transcripts or from the appropriate testing service. Send your test scores to ¼ø»Æʦapp by using these codes: ACT 1352, SAT 6617
• Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the English proficiency requirement for admission 

*Test scores are required for admission to specific programs and eligibility for top academic scholarships. Please contact your Admissions Counselor for details.

Master's program requirements

The following is required to apply for a master's degree admission to ¼ø»Æʦapp:

• You must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a field related to your desired master's program.
• Generally, a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is expected for undergraduate studies. Some programs might require a higher GPA or consider cumulative GPAs beyond the last 60 credits.
• While not typically required for most master's programs, some specific offerings might necessitate GMAT, GRE, or other standardized test scores for evaluation. Check your chosen program's details for clarification.
• Request official transcripts from all universities or colleges you attended to be sent directly to ¼ø»Æʦapp. 
• Provide a professional resume or curriculum vitae showcasing your academic achievements, work experience, and relevant skills. 
• Typically, one or two letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or mentors familiar with your academic ability and potential are required.
• This is your opportunity to explain your motivation for pursuing a master's degree at ¼ø»Æʦapp, highlighting your goals, interests, and how the program aligns with your career aspirations. 
• Some programs may have unique admission criteria, such as portfolio submissions, interviews, or work experience requirements. Always consult the specific program page for detailed information.

Doctoral program requirements

The following is required to apply for a doctoral degree admission to ¼ø»Æʦapp:

• A graduate degree (usually a master's) from an accredited institution in a relevant field is typically required. A strong academic record in your master's program is often expected.
• Generally, a high GPA (often 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale) is expected for both undergraduate and graduate studies. Programs may consider cumulative GPAs beyond the last 60 credits.
• While not commonly required, some doctor programs might request GRE, GMAT, or other standardized test scores for evaluation. Always check your chosen program's page for specifics.
• Request official transcripts from all universities or colleges you attended to be sent directly to ¼ø»Æʦapp.
• Provide a professional resume or CV showcasing your academic achievements, research experience, publications, and relevant skills.
• Typically, two or three letters of recommendation from professors, research supervisors, or mentors familiar with your academic ability and research potential are required.
• Statement of research interests and purpose essay allows you to express your research interests, specific area of focus within the doctoral program, and how your goals align with the program's faculty and research strengths.
• Some programs might require a preliminary research proposal outlining your proposed dissertation topic, methodology, and potential contributions to the field.

Returning student requirements

At ¼ø»Æʦapp, we understand that sometimes the journey to graduation includes taking a break from classes for a variety of reasons. Ultimately, we want to see you achieve your dreams and earn your degree, which is why we have put together a team of dedicated staff members to help you return.

• Give us a call to discuss your degree completion goals. Our expert staff will help you develop a clear plan to graduate.
• Undergraduate students: 563-333-5707
• Graduate students: 563-333-6308
• Students with a GPA below 2.0 still should complete the online application, and it will be evaluated. You may be able to return to classes under provisional guidelines.
• Fill out the online application so that your transcripts can be reviewed and you can register for classes. You will need the following information handy:
• The year you stopped taking classes at SAU
• Provide transcripts for any other school you may have attended since leaving SAU
• Once you are accepted, register for classes with the help of your returning student advisor, who will introduce you to a dedicated financial aid counselor to work with you on financing your education.

Transfer student requirements

The following is required to apply for transfer admission to ¼ø»Æʦapp:

• Have completed 12 college-transferable credits of academic work from a fully accredited institution of higher education.
• Maintained a 2.0 grade point average or above (on a 4.0 scale).
• Submit transcripts of all prior work at higher education levels.
• Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the English proficiency requirement for admission.
